The root cause for this issue may be Nagios XI software versions for our RHEL system. Nagios XI version 5.5.3 worked. Newer versions did not work in our environment.

uname -a reveals the following ...

This is really curious because the difference between 5.5.3 and 5.5.6 are just some bug fixes, I don't think there was even any changes in packages installed.
