Feature request status

Post by WillemDH »

Hello,

We were wondering if there is any update on the following feature requests:

NEW TASK ID 10707 created - Nagios XI Feature Request: Create ordered list for Actions component (alphabetical)
NEW TASK ID 10708 created - Nagios XI Feature Request: Allow importing / exporting of Actions (component) through the GUI / CLI

The list of quick actions is getting really long and managing them is getting really hard. Ideally we would like to be able to get them versioned in GitLab or so and in order to do that we would like to be able to export / import the quick actions.

Thanks for looking into this.

Grtz

Hi @Willhelm

I just discussed this with our developers, and we are aware of your request, but I can't say with certainty that it will be completed and if so, under what time schedule due to finite developer resources right now.

If anything changes, I will keep your feature requests in mind. Please let me know if you have any other questions or comments.

Additional info:

Re: TASK ID 10707
This is not a straight forward feature to implement... The "Quick Actions" section doesn't contain only items from the "Actions" component, but also some hooks from other components. Sorting the whole thing alphabetically may make sense for some users, but not for others. Some people are used to seeing certain items on the top, e.g. "Enable/Disable notifications", "Force an immediate check", etc. We don't want to push these down the list. On the other hand, it's a good idea to sort the items in from the "Actions" component... Currently, they are listed in the order they've been added. Perhaps, we could make possible to shift them around in the "Actions" component itself. It is really up to our developers to make this decision.

Re: TASK ID 10708
This particular task has been cancelled as it is not useful for many users. We receive thousands of feature requests, so we try to prioritize, and implement features that many users are interested in. Unfortunately, exporting/importing actions is not one of those features, at least not at this time.

Update on TASK ID 10707:
Well... a few minutes after I posted on the forum our developers told me that there was a new Actions component, ready for testing... :)

I am sorry for the confusion! The new Actions component would sort text items alphabetically. Unless we find an issue with it during testing, it should be out fairly soon. Thanks!

Let me know if you want us to help test this new actions component (on our QA Nagios XI server).
