ERROR: fork 3 has died ahead of time

Since upgrading to 5.5.7 via the GUI, I am seeing repeated notifications involving the MRTG cron job:

*/5 * * * * root LANG=C LC_ALL=C /usr/bin/mrtg /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg --lock-file /var/lib/mrtg/mrtg.lock --confcache-file /var/lib/mrtg/mrtg.ok --user=nagios --group=nagios

2018-11-29 13:55:12: ERROR: fork 3 has died ahead of time ...

These are happening every 5 minutes. Please advise on how to troubleshoot this.

Hi, @sathevaner. Please remove --user=nagios and --group=nagios from the cron:

*/5 * * * * root LANG=C LC_ALL=C /usr/bin/mrtg /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg --lock-file /var/lib/mrtg/mrtg.lock --confcache-file /var/lib/mrtg/mrtg.ok

Then restart the crond:

service crond restart

Let me know if it fixes your problem.

Removing the user and group from the Cron job had no effect. Please advise.
