Changing License Key on existing XI Servers

Post by lyokosh »

Our Nagios environment contains 10 XI servers which have our first acquired Nagios license key activated on each server. Recently we purchased addition license so we can expand our Nagios XI monitoring environment.
We would like to change multiple of existing Nagios XI servers to the new license.
I do not see any reference to this in the Admin guide or on the forum.
Do I simply just activate the new license key on the current servers I would like to change? Do I need to be concerned about internal file clean up on the servers I would like to change?
Will this change effect the current server host / services monitoring definitions? If so, what needs to be done? Do the current server host / services need to be redefined if the license key changes?
Thank you for your assistance.

All you need to do is go to Admin > System Config > License Information, enter the new license key, click on "Update License", then activate the new license. Each Nagios XI license is approved for up to three installations: one primary monitoring/production, one backup/failover, and one test environment. As long as you are only using one install for production monitoring, you are within the boundaries of our licensing policy. If you eventually activate Nagios XI on three IP's and need to migrate one of them to a new IP, simply contact our sales department at [email protected]. They can typically offer additional installs.
