Hi,
We just purchased Nagios and I would like to start it on the correct path. We currently run HPOV and it is a beast to maintain and keep running. Here is some information on us. We are a closed program with no connectivity to the internet. None of our environments (DEV to OPS) would have more than 500 nodes. When it comes to patching or updating we move very slowly.
Some of the basic questions I have before we start using this software are:
1. Do you have an "offline" bundle that has everything we need?
2. When it comes to add-on's, do you have offline bundles or is up to us what we want to bring in and use?
3. What do most people use, Linux or the Appliance? Pro's and Con's of each?
4. Do you have a reference guide or architecture documentation we could read?
5. How would you start from scratch? Any do's and dont's?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Marcus

Your Questions:
1. Do you have an "offline" bundle that has everything we need?
Yes. We have a detailed instruction guide ( see below ) on installation in an off line environment.
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... onment.pdf
2. When it comes to add-on's, do you have offline bundles or is up to us what we want to bring in and use?
Nagios XI is very robust, but for additional functionality, please visit the Nagios Exchange
3. What do most people use, Linux or the Appliance? Pro's and Con's of each?
Nagios XI runs on Linux - RHEL. CentOS and Ubuntu, and often using a VM but dedicated hardware will provide the most performance.
4. Do you have a reference guide or architecture documentation we could read?
Please read Nagios XI Hardware Requirements.
5. How would you start from scratch? Any do's and dont's?
We normally offer QuickStarts to new customers to help them get up and running successfully. If desired, please contact [email protected]. We also have a best practices guide for getting the most out of the software - Nagios XI Best Practices.
