Ping monitoring issue

Hi Team,

We have enabled ping monitoring for few Windows servers from Nagios XI.
The status of those servers in Nagios is showing as down. When we checked with the owner of the servers, we can to know that they are UP and running fine.

We reconfigured ping monitoring for those servers thinking that NAgios might be taking time to reflect the status but, we can see those servers were still down in Nagios, not sure what is causing problem here.

Please suggest.

If you login to the Nagios XI CLI can you ping the hosts IP and hostname?

ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Code: Select all

ping your.windows.host
It could be that the firewall on the Windows server is rejecting ICMP requests.
