rrdtool-devel package for Centos 7

Post by jamiesimon »

Greetings! We are running into a chicken/egg situation around the rrdtool and rrdtool-devel packages for Centos 7.4 and would like to avoid a total rebuild of our Production server.

The version of the rrdtool RPM on the repo in https://repo.nagios.com/nagiosxi-deps/7/, rrdtool-1.4.9-1.el7.x86_64.rpm, has no equivalent package of the rrdtool-devel package; this package is needed for integration of the check_mk tool Livestatus.

If one compiles/installs Livestatus before installing Nagios XI (as we did with our Development server), no problem: Centos provides rrdtool-1.4.8-9.el7.x86_64 and rrdtool-devel-1.4.8-9.el7.x86_64.

We have attempted to downgrade from rrdtool-1.4.9-1 to rrdtool-1.4.8-9, however several multilib dependencies cannot be resolved, so the downgrade fails. (I can provide logging if desired.)

I'm not clear what is different about the rrdtool-1.4.9-1.el7.x86_64.rpm version in the Nagios repo from the Centos 1.4.8-9 release. Could we request the support team compile a compatible rrdtool-devel-1.4.9-1 package and host it on the repo?

Thanks in advance!
