Alias not updating

Post by notverynick »

HI Guys,

I've configured a bunch of hosts and aliases inside. Printers to be specific with the alias being the Serial Number

However as I created an Alert it was using the alias and not the host name by default in the alert. So I decided to change the alias instead of reconfigure the alert.

The host name is changed everywhere I can see, so core config, literal config file with the WARNING DO NOT CHANGE!!! comments. Except the alert, which is using the Serial number and also on the web page when you view the host, the alias is there again as the serial number.

I'm attaching screen grabs for clarity :)

Any assistance in clearing this up would be greatly appreciated.

What version of Nagios XI are you running? There was a known bug in ndoutils (subcomponent) that can cause results like this. It should be fixed now in the 2011r3.1 release.

Thanks!

I am one version back so will attempt the update I guess

Are there any known issues, I've had the update alert for a few days but have intentionally left it alone as the new version is well, new!

Upgrade complete, I felt brave.

I've checked the service and the alias is now correct so I assume this will be reflected in the alter when it is triggered.

Many thanks for the swift response and resolution!!
