Disable notifications for all services on multiple devices

Post by hlaten01 »

We are in the process of importing close to a thousand windows servers into our Nagios XI environment. Our team that is going to deliver the agent has not prepared the package for the agent deployment using our packaging software. We are on a scheduled project and I am trying to keep on schedule with the other objects on the project timeline, and our management wants the ability to verify whether the servers are up or down using icmp which does not need the agent installed. We are going to go ahead and import the servers without an agent installed using the bulk import wizard. The bulk import wizard marks the services that we are deploying as being active. In order to not clog up our dashboards and have all the services lightup as no connection I have to manually go in and deactivate each service. The host still checks for ping and at least until the agent is deployed we can know whether the servers are up or down. I am looking for a Little help and guidance so that I can streamline the server imports to where we still have the services ready to go once the agents are installed but the agents are deactivated. What I need to do is import the servers with the services as activated. If I use a server with the services deactivated then the services don't show when I go to clone because they are deactivated. Has anyone else ran across this and found a fix for it. Thank you in advance. We are using Nagios XI Version %.5.7.

I believe the easiest way of disabling notifications on multiple hosts/services would be via the Bulk Modifications Tool (CCM > Tools > Bulk Modifications Tool > Change a Single Config Option). As soon as you import your hosts/services, you could go to the Bulk Mod tool, and set "Notifications enabled" = off for these objects, click on "Save Changes" and apply configuration.

Thank you for the reply and the fix for the situation. This actually stops the notifications. The checks are still being performed and in the home dashboard they were showing up. In the same manner I stop the active checks themselves:

In bulk via the Bulk Modifications Tool (CCM > Tools > Bulk Modifications Tool > Change a Single Config Option > Active Checks enabled= off > Select Services > Add Selected > Close > Save Changes > Apply Configuration
By performing this it stops all active checks on the services and the dashboards remain clear.

Thank you
