RDP integration.
RDP integration.
I was just curious i have been using nagios xi for about 5 days still really getting a feel for it and setting it up at the moment. I have seen some plugins that can monitor rdp ect but what i was wondering do you think it is possible to add a feature to nagios that would allow you to directly rdp to a server that is having an issue with 1 click? I was just thinking about this today and thought it would be a great way to have almost a all in one monitoring support system?
Re: RDP integration.
Great idea about the RDP! Here's our plan with regards to this type of integration. It will probably take 1-2 months to get it out, but here's the idea....
We'll add a feature where you can enable multiple action items/tasks that can be associated with some and/or all hosts/services. The action items will be accessible via a dropdown box somewhere and contain common tasks that might be useful. We'll probably build in a few default tasks and create an API for allowing folks to add their own. Here are some ideas for these quick tasks/actions:

- Ping
Traceroute
SSH session

Perhaps some VMware stuff
Launch vSphere Client
I agree with the HTTP(S). So many things are managed that way.
I.E. on Dell servers the openmanage app is always https://<servername>:1311 so it would be good to define a link to a server or someway of flagging that this server is an openmanange capable server so we can use it as an actionitem.

Re: RDP integration.
Encase anyone was interested I found a add on in the nagios exchange that works great for this.
http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Ad ... on/details
This small program is called nagstamon Ive been toying around with it for the past few weeks and found that it is extremely useful especially in windows environments running a lot of terminal servers. whats nice is it will blink red or yellow or black if there is an issue then you can right click the server and rdp to it or if it is a switch you can http to it. So far im very impressed with it.
