Hello,
Recently we have stopped notifications for bandwidth interface from one of the switch please find the below
Bulk modifications->change single config->Notifications enabled ->select services->off
But we have enabled snmp trap sender from our nagios server to one ticketing tool.
if i stopped Bandwidth notifications means that should stop creating ticket from my ticketing tool for bandwidth but i have received one ticket for Bandwidth warning alert's
Could you please clarify why the ticket was created only for warning alert's ?
Could you please confirm any other way is there to stop the complete notifications from nagios ?
We don't want to create ticket for bandwidth
Bandwidth notifications
Re: Bandwidth notifications
It's not clear to me - are tickets getting created due to the snmp trap? Disabling notifications will not disable snmp traps from getting sent. The settings for traps can be configured or disabled under Admin > System Extensions > Manage Components > SNMP Trap Sender.

Re: Bandwidth notifications
@manimurugesan, Please explain what mechanism you're using to open tickets in the ticketing tool? Without knowing how service notifications are connected to the ticketing tool it's hard to tell the issue.
As @cdienger mentioned if you're using an SNMP trap sender to open tickets you need to go to the component settings and make changes to the SNMP Trap Sender.
Could you send in your Nagios XI System Profile so I can review it?
To send us your system profile. Login to the Nagios XI GUI using a web browser.
Click the "Admin" > "System Profile" Menu
Click the "Download Profile" button
Save the profile.zip file and send it to me in a private message. Plus let me know the names of 2 bandwidth services with disabled notifications: one that still opens new tickets and another one that doesn't.

Re: Bandwidth notifications
Hello,
Requirement : We do not want Bandwidth alert notification.
Solution we tried : we have disabled the notification for all bandwidth
i.e. Bulk modifications->change single config->Notifications enabled ->select services->off
But we use SNMP trap to send the notification to service Now. But as per "Cdienger" Disabling notifications will not disable snmp traps from getting sent. As a result the tickets are generating in service Now which is right as per the functionality.
As suggested by your team:
The settings for traps can be configured or disabled under Admin > System Extensions > Manage Components > SNMP Trap Sender.
This will stop notification for all devices if we disable SNMP trap Sender. But we only want notification to be stopped for specific Bandwidth services.
Is there any way to stop bandwidth alerts for specific services instead of disabling the SNMP Trap sender.

Re: Bandwidth notifications
@manimurugesan, I see. Unfortunately, the SNMP trap handler component operates under Global Event Handler and it forwards all state change events automatically. You could adjust settings on bandwidth services so that they never go into hard states. Or you could put all bandwidth services into 1-year downtime and check the option to not send any traps during the downtime.
I can also submit a feature request to add functionality to be able to limit SNMP traps by specific service groups and host groups.
