Scheduled downtime..?

Post by yaanatech »

I am finding that if I schedule a host for downtime, the services on that host do not inherit that downtime. Is there an option to schedule downtime for services in one shot? As an example, I may need to schedule down time for 300 services at one time. Or as an alternative, what about just disabling the notifications engine for Nagios? I can disable the monitoring engine, but I don't have an option to disable the alert notifications engine. Is there a plugin?

I think I found my answer..

Home->Host detail->My_Host->Advanced->See this host in Nagios Core->Schedule downtime for all services on this host

I would think that Nagios XI did this without having to go to Core, am I not seeing something?

Normally, when you schedule a host downtime, you shouldn't be receiving alerts for services. Do you have "Is volatile" option enabled for these services? Notification intervals are ignored for volatile services. You can read more on the topic here.

What about mass deleting schedule downtime? If the maint ends early, how can I delete all the downtime ID's at once?

We don't have this functionality, yet so you will have to do this on a one-by-one basis. This would be a nice feature to implement though. You can post a feature request on our bug tracker so that we can put it on our TODO list (if there is enough interest):
