Bug in Nagios XI - changing config of service

Post by NMFSTeam »

In the Nagios XI web interface, I bring up a host, click on the icon "View service status details for this host" and then click on an individual interface's status. At the top, there are Overview, Performance Graphs, Advanced, Configure, Capacity Planning, Free Variables, and Network Traffic Analysis. I click on "Configure" and then "Re-configure this service." I modify the field "Monitor the service with this command" and change one value, then click "Update." Then it processes for a couple seconds, then "Configuration applied successfully." And then I can click the blue "Continue" button.

If I then go back in and view the command again (Configure >> Re-configure this service), the field "Monitor the service with this command" remains unchanged. What am I doing wrong? Have I found a bug in Nagios XI? This used to work...

We are running version Nagios XI 5.5.11 on CentOS 6.

I haven't been able to recreate the issue in-house. Is this a new install or an upgrade? Are you logged in as nagiosadmin, other admin user, or a "regular" user? Are you having any other issues with the system? Can you modify the service/command in the CCM, and apply configuration successfully?

Can you PM me your latest profile (Admin > System Config > System Profile > Download Profile)? Thank you!

I have sent the profile via PM.

This is an upgrade, we have been running Nagios XI on this same system for years. It was upgraded maybe three weeks ago to the current version. I am logged in as a user that has "Admin" level access.

If I go look at the same service/command in the CCM, it has the updated entry that I entered in the "regular" Nagios web interface. I will PM you screenshots so you can see what I am talking about. Basically, we are trying to replace the SNMP community string with a user macro.

I was not able to recreate the issue in-house. I tried modifying a command on my test XI box by replacing the community string with a user macro, and it updated right away for me.

I checked the profile, and noticed that your PHP and system times are out of sync.
PHP Time: Mon, 08 Apr 2019 14:17:45 -0400
System Time: Mon, 08 Apr 2019 11:17:45 -0700
I believe this is causing the issue. I would recommend fixing the time issue by following the steps, outlined in the document below:

My coworker went in, made the change again, and then the change was reflected on all of the other entries I had previously modified, but it didn't reflect on my screen. Also, the checks weren't actually working until he made the change. Very odd.

Anyway, I have gone ahead and changed the date/time using the directions. The PHP time was off, as you indicated. I have tested using the "re-configure this service" and I am able to change the setting and it seems to work as expected now. Thank you very much for your assistance.
