Nagios XI NRPE agent on Red Hat 8

Post by unifr »

Hi,

We are evaluating the newest release of linux Red Hat 8 and we are wondering how to install the Nagios agent.
Everything we found on the web is related to the EPEL repository for CenOS 7... Not the same distribution and not the same version of the OS.

Could anyone tell me how to deal with the installation of the NRPE agent on Linux Red Hat 8?

Thanks in advance.

Red Hat 8 has been released for production 2 months ago and we can't migrate to Red Hat 8 because if we do so there is no documented or supported way to install the NRPE agent (no, asking people to use the epel repo of RH 7 is not a serious answer) and therefore we can't monitor our newly installed systems.

This is really blocking us in our migration schedule and we have good reasons to migrate and install new systems to RH 8. How is it possible for a solution like Nagios XI (we pay a license and support) to rely so heavily on external packages to define the availability and support of your product?

Should we consider another monitoring solution that is immediately available and compatible?

Ultimately the decisions is yours if you'd like use a different solution, but you have a ticket open for this same issue so please work through that so we can focus our efforts. This thread will be locked now.
