Is snmptt needed for Nagios Syslog Server? If so, why?
Want to debug alerts being processed by NAGIOS. I see alerts, but the emails are not being sent and snmp traps are not being sent either.
Please advise.
Alerts not being processed
Re: Alerts not being processed
snmptt is not needed for Nagios Log Server.
What do your alerts currently look like? What happens if you manually run them?

Re: Alerts not being processed
If I manually run them, the alert processes SNMP traps.
Bottom line is why do alerts stop performing the actions which they are configured for?

Re: Alerts not being processed
What exactly is configured and where? Both NLS and XI can work with emails and traps so please provide a clear description(screenshots would be great) of the configurations and where the problem is thought to be.

Re: Alerts not being processed
I have both Traps and Email alerts. They were working and stopped. What can I check logs etc to find the issue with Nagios SySlog server alert handling?
In other words debugging Alerts that are not performing their function.
Again logs etc., would be helpful. Maybe even turning on some kind of debug?
How can I attach an image here?
I have a screen shot of the alerts that I have setup and the are in a status that need to notify and they are doing nothing.....

Ok here is a screen shot of the alerts I have setup, but answer the other questions about debugging.

Re: Alerts not being processed
It looks like you opened a ticket for this back in April. The last update on the ticket was that you were going to upgrade to 2.0.7. Was this done? We went back and forth with debugging steps on the ticket. If this is the same problem then I believe there wasn't much in the way that we could enable for logging. Again, if this is the same case, it would have been helpful if you provided details about the problem or referenced the ticket number. My last message to you on the ticket included a link to schedule a time that we could do a remote session. Please use this to book a time so that we can have a closer look.

Re: Alerts not being processed
I am sorry if there was confusion. Please let me know your availability to remote. I would really appreciate that, since we did upgrade to that version 2.0.7. The thing that gets me, is that alerts were working and then all of a sudden stopped. Really weird.
Thanks, Frank.
