Greetings,
We deleted a user from our NagiosXI installation and it appears that there are a few artifacts that exist for this user, but I am unable to find them.
I've looked in Core Config Manager > Contacts for the user and to see if the user was contained within a Contract Group, but couldn't find the user. The user 'bjballst' only seems to exist when navigating to the host from Host Status, clicking the Configure tab, Re-configure this host and clicking the Notifications tab.
I have not restarted my NagiosXI VM yet. We are running NagiosXI 5.6.3. We'll upgrade to 5.6.4 or 5.6.5 when this problem has been resolved.
When going to Core Config Manager > Tools > Config File Management and clicking Write Configs and then Verify Files, I get the following errors:
Error: Contact 'bjballst' is not defined anywhere!
Error: Could not add contact 'bjballst' to service (config file '/usr/local/nagios/etc/services/ADSB-153.cfg', starting on line 16)

Check your configuration file(s) to ensure that they contain valid
directives and data definitions. If you are upgrading from a previous
version of Nagios, you should be aware that some variables/definitions
may have been removed or modified in this version. Make sure to read
the HTML documentation regarding the config files, as well as the
'Whats New' section to find out what has changed.
Any help on getting this issue resolved would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Devyn

Re: Deleted user exists in notifications, but nowhere else
Lets do the following
Core Config Manager > Tools > Config File Management
Click Delete files
Click Write Configs
Click Verify Files
If all verification works correctly Apply Configuration
Core Config Manager > Tools > Config File Management
Click Delete files
Click Write Configs
Click Verify Files
If all verification works correctly Apply Configuration

Scott,
This worked! I was afraid to delete with the warnings, despite the KB stating this was how it needed to be done at the bottom. I'll know for next time. I really appreciate your time here.
