Has anyone seen their xinetd nrpe configuration file vanish on an RHEL system?
Thanks
Missing /etc/xinetd.d/nrpe file
Re: Missing /etc/xinetd.d/nrpe file
Does this server have Nagios XI installed on it? Have you upgraded it from a previous version of XI?
Is the /etc/xinetd.d/nrpe missing or it's "deactivated"?

Re: Missing /etc/xinetd.d/nrpe file
This is a remote managed/monitored server. It happened to 41 servers. I can't imagine how Nagios would be involved unless some as yet unidentified activity triggered a reconfiguration script on those servers.
Have we seen this from perhaps the nrpe installation script? Maybe there is something that is running it. RPM says that the nrpe package is not installed. I'm only asking to cover any possible source ... //smile
Thanks!

Re: Missing /etc/xinetd.d/nrpe file
I've never seen this issue before. It's strange that it happened on so many servers... Are you using any mass deployment/management/automation software, such as puppet, chef or ansible? It is possible that someone made a bulk change to these servers...
