Nagios & OS Update

Post by JGCG »

We're running Nagios XI 5.5.2 (installed from OVA CentOS 6.9) and are looking to update to the latest version of Nagios XI and perform OS updates at the same time, but the last yum update ran was over a year ago so I'm a bit weary of hitting the go button.

In terms of applying the updates, what's the preferred route to update safely (we'll backup first).
Updating Nagios XI via the web interface first, reboot, and then running a yum update, or,
a yum update first, reboot, and then update XI?

Are there any additional steps to perform, or is it as simple as above?
