Re: NagVis - line hover showing performance graph of service

Post by benjaminsmith »

Hello @solarmon,
Is there a way to reference, say using a URL or some API, the NagiosXI peformance graph of a particular host or service? If not, how do I go about putting in a feature request for it
The only workaround I can suggest is to create a new dashboard for the performance graph and then add the performance graph to this dashboard using the Add to Dashboard link in the upper left side of the performance graph. Next go the dashboard that was created, select the 'hamburger' menu in the upper right and then choose Popout. This will give you a URL to the performance graph (via a dashboard) for the host or service.

If you'd like I can certainly put in a feature request on your behalf. Please let me know.

I don't seem to have a 'Popout' option for the docked performance graph. The item has the following icon on its title bar:

Hide Title
Pin
Delete

And the 'hamburger' ( ) menu for it has the following options:

Print chart
Download PNG image
Download JPEG image
Download PDF document
Download SVG vector image
Download CSV
Download XML
Download JSON

I am using Nagios XI 5.6.6, if that is of any significance.

Yes, please put in the request for me. I had this feature in Cacti + phpweathermap and it is really useful for troubleshooting.

I'm aware of the 'Performance Graphs' and 'Graph Explorer' feature, but I'd like to be able to have the graph popup for a particular host or service shown on NagVis.

Hello @solarmon,
Yes, please put in the request for me.
Sounds good. I'll submit this as a XI feature request. Please keep in mind that the decision to implement the enhancement is at the discretion of our development team.

Here's the 'hamburger' menu I was referencing. It's a workaround but it will get you a URL to a performance graph.

Hi @benjaminsmith

OK, I don't have the same web GUI - this is my one:

So I thought you meant the hamburger menu for the graph dashlet itself.

But as you can see there is a popout icon and I see what you mean now - the dashboard will have a URL page of its own.

However, this will probably be impractical as I would want it for every host and service object on a map. I don't want to have to create a dashboard for each graph!

What I'd like to see is a the equivalent of the "'Download PNG image' option, but as a URL.
