Host Group Action URL

Can you provide some advice on Action URL for host group. In NagiosXI does it perform any function. I see in the core it creates an icon to do this function. What I am trying to do is similar to action URL in Hosts, from the host group I would like to open a Nagvis diagram to view the devices.

I am not sure what the hostgroup action URL has to do with Nagvis diagrams. You can add objects to NagVis maps (hosts, services, hostgroups, servicegroups, etc.), and view your devices whether or not you have action URLs set up on these objects.

Note: When you add a notes and/or action URL to a host or service, you can see icons in Nagios XI. You don't see them for hostgroup URLs in XI, just in Nagios Core. I can submit a feature request on your behalf for adding this functionality in Nagios XI if you'd like. Please keep in mind that the decision to implement the enhancement is at the sole discretion of our development team.

Your note reflects what I was after, I considered that the action URL in Host groups would be similar to Hosts where you could put a link to a web page, when configured it would show an icon with the host group similar to Nagios core. We have created a group to reflect a number of layer 2 switches connected together and was hoping the link would go to a Nagvis diagram.

I looked at the explanation of the Action URL and this is what it indicated, can you tell me what it dows for NagiosXI if this is the case.

If this can be considered in a future release that would be appreciated.

I already filed an internal feature request for adding notes_url and action_url icons for hostgroups and servicegroups in Nagios XI. The request is in the approval queue.

Do action_url icons for hosts/services appear for you in NagVis (on the map) or you need to click on the device in order to view the action_url in XI? If you wanted to be able to click on the device to "drill down" and view it in Nagios XI, then yes, once the new feature is implemented, you would be able to see the hostgroup/servicegorup action_url icon. I don't think you will be able see the icon on the NagVis map though. If you showed me a screenshot of what you would expect to see, I would have a better idea of your request, and whether it is doable.
