Adding disk space

Post by mrochelle »

Nagios XI 3.2 64 Bit VM install
CentOS release 6.2

I'm trying to decide the best method to add an additional 200GB of disk space for a new production installation. I have found a Nagios XI document ( Resizing the XI VM Disk ) but was wondering if I could just mount an additional volume as /nagios and just move the logs and a few other directories that tend to grow the most? I'm in the early stages of configuration so if we needed to make a change that required us to restart over, it is not a problem at this stage. Comments and opinions are appreciated.

This would be possible, however there are some directories paths under /usr/local that are used by by several components of nagios and nagiosXI and the files are expected to be in a certain place.

Every setup is different so what grows on one might not be too big on another.

For many, the diskspace is large for the MySQL server, others it's the performance data (which is in 2 different locations if you are using the router/switch wizard), for some setups the backups take a huge amount of space.

I went ahead and use the ( Resizing the XI VM Disk ) document to keep things where they belong. Thank You.

That's really the best bet with a VM....
