BPI not working

Post by ibmkenexa »

Hi Team,

I have configured BPI with 5 members and make 3 are essential members. When I make all 3 or 2 essential members to 'critical' , group ID state is not changing 'critical or warning' and not receiving any notification mail.

My requirement is we should notify when both become Master, when both become Slave and when both down (critical). I am using Nagios XI 5.2.7

Could you please help me to fix this issue. Please let me know if you need more details

My BPI details are:

Notification contacts removed from individual Host and Service monitors, notification added to BPI group ID: admintest

Group ID: admintest
Display Name: admintest
did not give any for Group Description and Info URL, Primary Group checked
Health Thresholds: Warning 90, Critical 80
Priority: High

Thank you all in advance.

I am not able to recreate the issue in-house. Even if you had only one "essential" member in a non-OK state, the state of the "parent" group should've changed too. You are using a very old version of Nagios XI (5.2.7). I would recommend that you upgrade your XI to the latest. There have been many bug fixes that relate to BPI in the newer versions of XI. You can view the changelog here:

https://www.nagios.com/downloads/nagios-xi/change-log/

Here's our documentation on upgrading Nagios XI:

If you are still having the same issues after the upgrade, please post back here.

Hi lmiltchev,

Thanks for your response.

I will reach to concerned team to upgrade the Nagios. In organizations there is a much process to upgrade from current to new version and not sure will they process or not.

Product team is asking me, they will provide the script for same, can we embed the script in nagios and call the script for same functionality. If so, where to place the script, how to call please explain.

I am not sure of what script you are talking about... The upgrade procedures are outlined in the document I gave you in my previous post.

If you get "stuck" during the upgrade procedure, our support team can help you through that in a support ticket. You can open one if needed via our support center here:
