Mass changes to services across many hosts

Post by elopezv »

Hello,

I searched for this info but couldn't find it -- so would like to kindly request your assistance. I have created a new service template for the checking of a switch's port status so it uses the negate plugin. I understand this is the way to avoid a port from showing "critical" when somebody is not connected. Now, what I need to do is change this template in all network devices port services... can you please tell me how I can make this mass change? I tried the bulk modification tool but it doesn't 'apply' the new template to existing services.

Any guidance appreciated.
Thanks!

With Nagios configs they layer to make a combined config. If you define a directive in a template and then again on the service then the directive on the service will override as it's higher up in the layering.

Can you upload a screenshot of your template and also the same screenshot of your service, both screenshots showing the directives you want to change. I think I may have identified a potential limitation with the bulk tool.
