_ URL Status Service Cannot Remove

Post by hul1 »

Hi I'm trying to remove the _ URL Status service that's monitoring our websites or fix the issue where it's missing.
Currently it's showing for all the services we have under the hostgroup
_ URL Status Warning HTTP WARNING: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found - 7499 bytes in 0.012 second response time
I don't need URL Status but when I search for the service it doesn't exist so I can't remove it.
I did a find for URL Status for any of the website cfg files but didn't see anything so I'm pretty certain we didn't add URL Status when we set it up but now it's complaining about it.
How can I remove it for these websites we have monitored when it's missing from the service?

Hello Farmer John,

I see this is your first post and I'd like to thank you for choosing Nagios! We're happy to have you in the community.

I looked through your system profile I do see a few website checks.

1. Are you logged in as an Administrator when searching for this service in the Core Configuration Manager?

2. If that's not the cause, run through the following steps to resolve. Go to Configure > CCM > Tools > Config File Management, and then:

a. Delete Files
b. Write Configs
c. Verify Files ( Correct any errors you get )
d. Restart Nagios Core

Then check the interface to see if the check is still there.

Benjamin

Hi I'm still seeing the issue after running the config file management.
You can see from the screenshots below that it still shows and also when I try to go edit the service it shows it doesn't exist.

Do you have any idea how I can remove it? Can I remove the URL Status from the cfg file for the websites manually and reapply it in Nagios XI?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Hello Hul1,

It looks like service is probably getting inherited from a hostgroup. Can you send me the System Profile and the exact name of the Host with this service and I'll review the configurations? Thanks.

To send us your system profile.
Login to the Nagios XI GUI using a web browser
Click the "Admin" > "System Profile" Menu
Click the "Download Profile" button
Save the profile.zip file and share this in a private message and then reply to this post to bring it up in the queue.

Can you check on these two services? These may be the culprit.

I removed the 2 services from the host Host Group and Service Group that manages all the other websites and that seems to have worked.
Do you know why adding the service to the host group would cause all the other websites to pull the service? Is it basically like a service template that all the hosts in the host group pull?
Thanks!

Hello,

Glad that took care of it for you. This is the result of the inheritance rules in Nagios Core.

Okay think I understand thanks it might've become an inherited template that all the the other sites were pulling in this case.
