NagiosXI Offline Install Error

Post by mamidi »

I was able to fix all the errors and ran the install, I got the installation error.

ip6tables: Applying firewall rules: ip6tables-restore v1.4.7: ip6tables-restore: unable to initialize table 'filter'
Error occurred at line: 3
Try `ip6tables-restore -h' or 'ip6tables-restore --help' for more information.

INSTALLATION ERROR!

Installation step failed - exiting.
Check for error messages in the install log (install.log).
If you require assistance in resolving the issue, please include install.log
in your communications with Nagios XI technical support.
The script that failed was: './6-firewall'

I was able to fix the below error by commenting out..

[root@srvidgdvlsh101 nagiosxi]# more /etc/modprobe.d/CIS.conf
install rds /bin/true
install tipc /bin/true
install dccp /bin/true
install sctp /bin/true
#options ipv6 disable=1

Now when i want to run the install again as all the rpm's were installed I get this, so not sure how to proceed..

1.What version of Nagios XI are you using? --> 5.6.12-1.el6.x86_64
2.Linux Distribution and version? --> Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.10 (Santiago)
3.32 or 64bit? ----> 64bit
4.VMware Image or Manual Install of XI? ---> Manual Install of XI
5.Are there special configurations on your system, ie; is Gnome installed? Are you using a proxy? Are you using SSL? --> NOPE
6.**If you are encountering multiple issues that may not be related, start a thread for each issue --> No multiple Issues..

Is this a "vanilla" OS or you have modified it in any way, e.g. disabling IPv6 (but still having ipv6 firewall installed)?

Can you post the entire "/tmp/xi-install.log" on the forum?

You can try removing nagiosxi rpm, then reinstalling it:

Code: Select all

rpm -e nagiosx
cd /tmp/rpms/nagiosxi
./fullinstalli

This is not a Vanilla OS install, I do not think there are any modifications done.

To start mysqld at boot time you have to copy
support-files/mysql.server to the right place for your system

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SET A PASSWORD FOR THE MySQL root USER !
To do so, start the server, then issue the following commands:

/usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root password 'new-password'
/usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root -h srvidgdvlsh101.us.dev.corp password 'new-password'

Alternatively you can run:
/usr/bin/mysql_secure_installation

which will also give you the option of removing the test
databases and anonymous user created by default. This is
strongly recommended for production servers.

See the manual for more instructions.

You can start the MySQL daemon with:
cd /usr ; /usr/bin/mysqld_safe &

You can test the MySQL daemon with mysql-test-run.pl
cd /usr/mysql-test ; perl mysql-test-run.pl

Please report any problems with the /usr/bin/mysqlbug script!

We only test installs on a clean (vanilla) OS and don't guarantee they will work on modified systems. This is not a source install, where you could comment out some sections of the code, dealing with the firewall. It's a RPM install, so you would need to find a way to fix the firewall issue, prior to running the installer.

I saw similar errors and possible solutions, posted here:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/28215/h ... ble-filter

See if any of the suggestions would help.

Thanks for your reply. The iptables issue has been fixed, but when i try to run the fullinstall it says all the rpms are installed, you can see the output on the first post. All the errors are fixed and I want to get the installation successful.

Check your configuration file(s) to ensure that they contain valid
directives and data definitions. If you are upgrading from a previous
version of Nagios, you should be aware that some variables/definitions
may have been removed or modified in this version. Make sure to read
the HTML documentation regarding the config files, as well as the
'Whats New' section to find out what has changed.

Thanks a lot dude, it worked as this is a offline install. Removing the package and re-running the fullinstall did the remaining configuration that were pending & it worked.
