Nagios XI upgrade from 5.5.6 to 5.6.11

Hi,

We are planning to upgrade XI from 5.5.6 to 5.6.11 with offline installation.

Downloaded the latest tar file nagiosxi-5.6.11-1.el7.x86_64.tar.gz.

Then tried to run ./upgarde with root user after unzip but getting below error.

It looks like you have have tried to use the Offline RPM file but you have a source install.

Before doing anything else, let's take a look just to make sure you don't currently have the RPMs installed:

since we are doing offline installation.

During the steps only we are facing issue while executing ./upgrade and posted the results in my first post.

Can we use the file http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... est.tar.gz for offline upgrade also?

Because I can see xi-latest.tar.gz in manual upgrade page and nagiosxi-5-4.7.el7.x86_64.tar.gz in offline installation link.

No, you should use the offline package if it's an offline system (no internet/no external yum repo access).

It looks like you may have had a source install, now you're trying to use an RPM install?

First, backup your /etc/snmp directory, then do this:

yum remove snmptt shellinabox

Then try the upgrade again and see if it finishes, please include the /tmp/xi-upgrade.log file as well (or upgrade.log if using the source installer).

Ok, looks like you have mysql-community installed which is causing issues:

Package 1:mariadb-server-5.5.56-2.el7.x86_64 is obsoleted by mysql-community-server-5.7.20-1.el7.x86_64 which is already installed

The problem is that the RPM requires mariadb-server and you have a custom install of mysql. This will not work with the RPMs.

You likely installed from source, can you not upgrade from the source version via this guide?

Thanks for the suggestion.

I tried using the link you had provided which is using xi-latest.tar.gz and below is the error now.
Now it looks like its trying to upgrade , once we resolve the below.!

Does this server have access to the external yum repos? It doesn't look like it.

What is the output of these commands:

This is a tough situation because it's offline but wasn't installed as offline/RPM and the RPM requires mariadb-server and you have mysql-community-server (with data).
