i am getting this error when i try to apply setting
Error: The hosts 'SAFMonitor0001' and 'A1-SAFSW1807' form or lead into a circular parent/child chain!
not sure what file to check to fix it so it will apply the settings. i am trying to go from core to xi

Just to be sure that we're on the same page, what set of instructions are you following for the upgrade to XI? Was it perhaps the document linked below?

It sounds like the two hosts mentioned in the error message have been set to depend on each other, which doesn't quite make sense. Dependencies are set in the object configuration files. Please refer to the following linked documentation on how dependencies work in Nagios core.
