Core Config Manager, Menu filters are broken.

Post by yo_marc »

Hello Nagios Support. I am experiencing a strange problem that just started on our primary XI server.

In short, the menu filters under many of the different configs are broken.

An example: I want to add a Host Group to a Host Template.
1. Click on the Host Template I want to mange.
2. Click on "Manage Host Groups". A list of various Host Groups pops up.
3. I see 5 of them starting with the letter "b", so I type "b" in the filter. The menu goes blank. Nothing is shown.
4. I click the "X" / clear button, and all of the Host Groups re-appear in the list -- except the 5 that start with the letter "b".

As I mentioned, this just started on our primary / production XI server. I looked at two other we are running, and the problem is also happening there. One of those systems is very very seldom used or its configs modified.

All systems are running XI 5.6.7.

Is this a known bug, and one that was fixed in any recent releases? (I don't see it in the release notes).

Any help to resolve this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-marc

I should mention, this affects all of the blue config-boxes (for lack of better terms) under all of the various configs in the CCM. Host configs, Service configs, Host Groups, Service Groups, Contacts and Contact Groups, Templates, etc. etc.

It does not affect the white-drop down lists in any of those areas.

Update: Perhaps this isn't a Nagios issue --- I menus and filters work fine if I switch browsers.

Chrome seems to be the culprit. Disabled all plugins/add-ons. Upgraded from 81.0.4044.122 to 81.0.4044.129 - no luck.

Menus and filters are working in Brave and IE.

I'll leave it up to Nagios Support to determine if there is anything that needs to be modified in Nagios so that Chrome is able to play nice with it.

I've seen this as well in Chrome lately. I just click cancel, try again, and the filter text and results appear.
There are about four threads about this going right now, BTW.

@gormank Thanks for contributing.

Thanks for detailed steps to reproduce, we are pretty certain this issue has been corrected in the latest version of Nagios XI, 5.6.14.
- Fixed input filter text box in schedule host downtime page and CCM not working in Chrome
If possible, please upgrade to the latest version, clear the browser cache and let me know if the issue is resolved.

Thank you both! Not seeing the issue once upgrading servers to 5.6.14.
