Hello,

when I have notifications disabled globally, could I have it enabled exceptionally for some services.

How did you disable notifications globally? Did you navigate to Monitoring Engine Status ( as admin ) on the left pane > and then click the X next to Notifications on the Monitoring Engine Process widget. If you have done this, I do not believe there is a way to make exceptions for certain services.

It may be easier to change the default template for notifications, depending on what you are trying to do. Just navigate to Admin > then Notification Management under Users.

Hi,

I tried the default template notification, but that has not been reflected on all users. some users still have the notification enabled.

That could have something to do with how certain templates are set to inherit from one another, or it could be because those users have been altered and are no longer default.

I found that notification template only applies on users but not contacts.
all (users + contacts ) use the same xi_contact_genericgeniric .

any help to make deployment of notification affect contacts?

Yes, I'm glad you pointed that out. It is good to know that you are dealing with a Contact instead of a User. A contact must pass certain Filters, in order to be notified. Please refer to the Nagios Core document that details the set of conditions that determines whether a notification will be sent to a certain person.

You can change whether a contact gets notified by altering the service_notifications_enabled value in the object definition for that contact, or Contact Group if you want that setting to apply to multiple contacts.

Hi,

you mean I have to disable notification for each contact, if I don't have contact_group?. and there is no way to disable notification for all contacts in one shot?

That is probably the most direct way to go about it.

You may find it to be easier to use the Bulk Modification Tool, depending on exactly what you are trying to do.
