Ok, I'll put it on my TODO to update that component

Do you know if the issue of macros not being used properly has been addressed?

We're working on a much improved "actions tool" that will allow a lot more customization, use of macros, and a few other features for this tool. It will probably replace this component once it's ready.

While an improved actions tool would be nice I have to let you know as I port more old Big Brother scripts the number of results which contain pre-formatted text and/or html formatting and links keeps getting my my way. Everything is laid out nicely in Core and in Big Brother with <br/> and links but it becomes an almost undecipherable block of text in XI. Really need to weight the risk of injected results versus time to troubleshoot / solve issues.

Of course also Notes and Action URLs are part of this. Also in addition to ping and tracert, telnet, ssh, and browse a host.

Can you post a sample of the raw plugin output that you use with the tags included. I'll take a look at what would need to happen to implement this. Maybe it can be a switchable option in XI.

I have posted in the past about this and after getting screen shots was told embedding links was a server side scripting security issue and that "solved" my problem. I'm in the middle of trying to solve this bogus definition issue but I will get some screen shots later if it would truely help.

As I said I'll take a look at this for an XI option, but understand the developer guidelines for plugins state that plugins should be returning a concise, and single-line of data. Plugin output was never intended to display formatted text, although more recent versions of Core do allow multiple lines and html tags.

Between the unreadable output and the lack of hyperlinks I keep spending more and more time in core for day to day monitoring. Having to jump back and forth to xi for configuration and trending is frustrating. I understand the developer guidlines and philosophy but in version 3 people recognized the need to a little more info and usability.

Hello Folks,

Are there any updates on this topic? Has there been any progress on the "action tool" to correct the macros issue?

This would really help us out.

Thanks,
