SQL Error [nagiosxi] after upgrade to Nagios 5.7.

Post by Scot Fackler »

Getting the following error in several UI dialogs blocking the display after Nagios 5.7 update:

SQL Error [nagiosxi] : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near 'WHERE user_id = 206' at line 3
(See Attached)

Unable to find the offending config file using the quoted string.

Update: This appears to be an authorization issue as the user number in the error changes with the user.

Can you refresh the whole page, the version on the bottom still shows 5.6.14

Did the upgrade show it finished completely?

A refresh (including a restart of the browser and cache cleared) still shows the version 5.6.14 with the same errors. This was updated via the UI with DB errors found and rectified by a DB rebuild, then rerun of the update which was successful.

If you are still showing the version of 5.6.14 it must not have completed

Can you run a manual upgrade
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ctions.pdf

If you do not get a success message at the end, please send the upgrade.log from the upgrade directory.

Thanks

The manual upgrade resolved the display issue and the UI now shows 5.7.0. However, I am seeing a ton of checks pending and even after 20 minutes, no statuses. I stopped and restarted nagios via systemctrl and we are seeing no host or service checks updating. Tried a restart of the VM and still no joy. I can ping selected devices without issue but the checks just stay in pending.

Well, we figured that one out. All the devices were set to skip on the checks. Not sure why the upgrade would have done that, but we did have a failed first attempt. Anyway, it all seems to be working for the time being. The UI updater will take a while to earn my faith back.

Are the checks all processing as expected now?
