Nagios XI Host Notification without see Service

Post by hfo-telecom »

Hi,

i have a question related to my Nagios XI Environment.

If i add a contact to a host (only for Host Notifications) the contact can see all services.
How can i change the assignment so that the specific contact can only see the host status without all the services in the webinterface?

Best regards,
Andreas

Navigate to the Configure section of XI using the top bar > click Core Config Manager under Advanced Configuration on the left pane > then click Contacts under Alerting on the left > click on the contact you are concerned with > select the Alert Settings tab on the Contact Management > select On for Host Notifications Enabled > and Off for Service Notifications Enabled. Then make sure that you Save the changes and Apply the configuration.

I believe you could also make this change to a Contact Group or Template if you need to apply it to multiple contacts.

Hi, thanks for your answer.

But i wouldnt enable or disable host or service notification for a contact.

I just don't want to see a certain service even though I am registered as a contact in the host.

For example:
Host 1 (host notification for contact 1)
service 1 (service notification for contact 1, too)
service 2 (service notification for contact 1, too)
service 3 (service notification for contact 1, too)
service 4 (service notification for contact 1, too)
service 5 (NO notification for contact 1 and I don't want to SEE the service in the web interface either)
(notification and see in webinterface for this specific service should be for contact 2)

Best regards, Andreas

Where do you not want to "see" it? Are you looking at the Service Status or the Host Status page?

Typically, your user account relates to your access in XI and your contact affects what notifications you get. Your contact shouldn't affect what you see in XI.

Both...
I have registered "contact 1" in host for "Host Notifications", but i dont like to see all services from this host.
I only want to see the services in which I also enter "contact 1".

The functionality that you are requesting doesn't exist. When a contact is added to a host, this means the contact will be able see the host AND ALL ITS SERVICES in the GUI. This is by design.

The only "workaround" that I can think of is to create a "clone" of your host with a slightly different name, with no services added to it. Then, you can remove contact1 from the original host, and add it to the clone. You would have one extra object, but at least, contact1 won't be able to see any services on that host.
