Licensing Expired Prematurely

Post by nagaldis »

Hello,
I keep getting these emails from Nagios Sales that my license will expire in 120/90/60 days. That said, I went to upgrade from 5.6.6. to the newest 5.7.2... Low and behold, it failed to upgrade. The warning message reads "You cannot upgrade your license because your maintenance for this license has expired"

I ask myself, how is this possible? I re-licensed using the original license key given to me by Nagios, same issue.

How can I become licensed correctly and upgrade Nagios to the current version?

Linux Distribution and version? Debian 9.11 Stretch
32 or 64bit? 64bit
VMware Image or Manual Install of XI? Manual install into a VM hosted by Prox Mox
Are there special configurations on your system, ie; is Gnome installed? Are you using a proxy? Are you using SSL? I am using SSL

If you go to Admin -> License Information

What is listed in the License Stats section by "Maintenance Status"?

Does this machine have direct access to the Internet?

I am able to ping the outside world,

Code: Select all

ping google.com
does return a Exit status of 0 (and pings) so it appears to have internet connection.

Here is the license info from Maintenance status:

Maintenance Status: EXPIRED ON 1969-12-31 - Renew Now

If I run the

Code: Select all

date
command in Debian I get the following result:

Thu Jul 16 08:38:02 CDT 2020

The date is correct, but the time is wrong... This is a known issue related to how my Prox Mox host saves a backup every night...I do get some time drift. But still, the date is not the Epoch or anything close to it or drifted enough to expired a license.

Can you also send me the last 6 chars of the license key you are using, I looked at the license that I assumed was yours and it shows a checkin at version 5.7.2, which would be weird if the update failed

SSOOOQ I'm not totally sure how to answer your question, I tried to re-license with this key after the update failed in the AM.

I'm having someone from our sale department send you a script via email that should reset the expiration date for your license, for some reason it isn't getting it properly from our server.
