Turn Off Flap Detection

Post by jh129666 »

What, if anything, would we lose by turning off flap detection? If we did it, it would be at the host/service level as opposed to globally.

We just want to make sure we won't possibly be causing ourselves any issues by turning it off. Thanks!!

Flap detection just reduces the quantity of notifications if you have a host/service that is repeatedly going between OK and non-OK states. Once it enters a flapping state no additional notifications are send until it comes out of the flapping state.

Here are details on how it is calculated

OK, I just wanted to make sure we weren't setting ourselves up for possible issues by turning it off, which it sounds like we're not. Thanks for the quick response.
