Notifying multiple sets of contacts

Post by julius85641 »

Hi,

I am attempting to create two sets of notification user, the first set of users will get all the notifications for all of our hosts and services via email, Teams and Telegram (We like to be thorough). The second set of users should only get notifications from a smaller sub-set of hosts and services via Telegram.

All the underlying notification configuration works, so that is not in the issue we are facing.

My question is how would I apply a secondary set of notification contacts to a Host and intern a Service?

My idea was to create an additional Host Template and configure only the additional contacts in the Alert Settings and attach the Host Template to only the Hosts that we would like to send notifications to the second set of users. Inside the notification contacts is only one user and that's our Telegram bot which broadcasts to our Telegram group. Unfortunately this is not working.

Why I was going down this route is due to that our notifications are configured at Host Template level.

Any thoughts appreciated,
Regards,
Julius

I believe you may have better luck using a contact template or a contact group.

Please have a look at the following document to read more about the differences between Users and Contacts in Nagios XI.
