Nagvis Slow after XI Upgrade

Post by andyb4u »

Hi,

We recently upgraded two Nagios XI systems from Version 5-4-13 to Version 5-6-14.

Nagvis is now extremely slow on one system.

It is slow to initially open. It takes 1 minute to display all maps and we only have 2 custom maps.

It is slow to open any of our custom map – can take up to three minutes.

There were no errors in the upgrade.log.

I tried looking in the httpd error logs and don't see anything

Are there any ways to troubleshoot Nagvis? Any log files to check?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

It sounds like a possible memory issue, but looking over the NagVis documentation (it's a third party addon) you can turn on debug mode if there are no errors in the Apache log. Does the top command provide any clues about which processes are using the most CPU and memory?

We found the issue.

The Demo 5: Geomap was slowing it down as it couldn't get out to the URL it needs to download the background map image. We configured the http_proxy setting in Options > General Configuration > Global Settings.

Nagvis is now much more responsive to navigate through.
