nc_net and PowerShell

Post by jenglish »

We currently use nc_net to monitor Windows host. I would like to try and run a PowerShell script via Nagios but nc_net seems to have limitations. We tried using NCPA before, but it seems like NCPA and nc_net didn't like to coexist. I am working on a legacy Nagios instance with tons of static files. I can't easily switch the monitoring client.

Any ideas?
For all support requests, we need to know:
Linux Distribution and version?
RHEL6 - 2.6.32-754.28.1.el6.x86_64
VMware Image or Manual Install of XI?
Manual
Are there special configurations on your system, ie; is Gnome installed? Are you using a proxy? Are you using SSL?

Hi Jenglish,

Actually, I haven't come across this agent yet, but it does say it supports remote script execution. What type of limitations are you seeing? Can you post the error messages for us to review, you may be hitting some execution policy privileges in Powershell.

That said, since this is a legacy program that is no longer maintained, I would definetly recommend moving over to NCPA despite the challenges. It's going to be much easier to maintain and configure and also a program fully supported by Nagios.
