Nagios for cross platform

Hello

Can we use Nagios for cross platform to monitor network, windows , VMWARE ?

Till we have been using it only for linux

Could someone please throw some light on it ?

Hi Jake,

Yes, this easily accomplished using the Nagios Cross-Platform Agent, aka NCPA. It's a native python agent so it works on a variety of platforms, even a Raspberry PI.

Thank you so much for your response.

I am pretty new to the Nagios stuff and yes your documentation are awesome.

There are few things I would like to understand from the windows monitoring perspective. We have some Database running on a very old windows server(Running on VM) and IIS application too.

Is it possible from LINUX(Nagios Core 4) to monitor the Database running on windows 2003 and IIS application. I am sure Nagios monitors a wide range of service for windows and are there any services which Nagios doesn't cover ?

Are there any version related restriction when it comes to monitoring ?

There are tons of plugins available on the Nagios Exchange, so take a look at options for IIS and windows database. A popular plugin for Windows databases is check_mssql_health

Some of these plugins will require the installation of additional packages to get up and running. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

What value have to given for API configuration ?
