NCPA - Win10 - Run as local user

Post by Interrex »

Hi all.

Is it possible to run the NCPA services as local user.

We don not want to run in system context, and also the possiblity to limit the access.

Yes, you can change the user by modifying the service and changing the user. Your user must have the permissions to access the things it needs to monitor though, it may require local admin access depending on what you're trying to do, you'll also need to grant it permissions to the install location on the server. They likely need to be in the Performance Monitor Users group to report on performance counters.
