Removing Host from Nagios Core

I am decommissioning a server and that server is no longer needed to be monitored.
I am trying to remove it from the Nagios configuration.
Nagios has it's own server.
I have found the configuration files in opt/nagios/hosts
If I remove the cfg hosts tile in this location and run:

./nagios -v ..etc/nagios.cfg
service nagios restart

Are there other steps I need to consider before attempting to restart

You may want to grep the hostname from your services files to make sure it isn't defined there.
