NCPA agent upgrade

Post by hbouma »

Do we have upgrade instructions for the NCPA agent? We are currently running 2.1.5 on some RHEL 6, RHEL 7, CentOS 7, Windows 2012 and Windows 2016 servers and want to upgrade to 2.2.2.

Based on our current research, we are seeing that we would have to run an uninstall before we can do the install. Is that correct?

Hi Henry,

There are a couple for installing NCPA, but for Linux if you used the Nagios repository, you can run a yum update.

Code: Select all

yum update ncpa
For Windows, it's not necessary to uninstall the old version, you can simply download the new version and install it.

Let me know how you installed it on the various systems and I can provide more details.

Regards,
Benjamin

So, we tested this in Windows and it installed along side the old version. (Old version 2.1.5, new was 2.2.2).

For Linux, our servers do not have internet access or access to the Nagios repository.

Hi Henry,

I just tested this on my Windows system and it did not install another version. I believe the path might be different for the 2.1.5 install vs the default path provided by the 2.2.2 installer.

If this is the case, you can uninstall the new version ( there is an uninstall executable in the NCPA directory ), and re-install to the same path.

Let me know if that works for you.
