upgrade advice requested.

Post by grant.bakken »

I have an install of NagiosXI 5.6.9 on the old CentOS 6 appliance.

is there any reason I could not update to the latest application version by using the processes at https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ctions.pdf, before migrating my config to the newest appliance release?

Unfortunately CentOS 6 is not supported anymore. CentOS 7 or later is required, but you could also use Ubuntu 18 or later. RHEL 7 or later for a paid option.

The simplest solution is probably to deploy the appropriate OVA file from our VMWare image download page, then export the configuration from the old machine, and import them into the new one.

the listed 5.6.9 appliance in the "older versions" table (https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... 6.9.tar.gz) - what OS version does that have?

I'm not sure what you mean by "what OS version does that have." The link you posted is an installer tarball. There is no OS in it; it's installed on top of an existing OS.
