Unable to upgrade past 5.4.0

Post by t3dus »

For years now we have been stuck at NagiosXI 5.4.0 and can't not upgrade past that.

We have been trying to get support to get past this problem but every time I try to get support nobody will help me with the issue. I really do not want to re-install nagiosxi and start over so short of nuking nagios all together and switching to a new product I hope somebody will assist me and fix this thing.

We need to renew NagiosXI in about 30 days and I may not do it at this rate.

Hi t3dus,
Based on your upgrade log, I noticed that your are using EL6 which End Of Life (EOL) was 11/30/2020.
I'm not sure if you are using CentOS or RHEL.

Here's my suggestion:
- Create a new EL7 VM (EOL 6/30/2024) ... do not use EL8, since it's EOL has been cut sort 12/2021
- Install Nagios XI 5.4.0 (same version as your old one) onto the NEW VM
https://repo.nagios.com/?repo=offline
- Take a backup of your OLD 5.4.0
- Restore OLD backup of 5.4.0 onto the NEW VM
- Upgrade your NEW VM to latest Nagios XI

I also noticed after I made this post that we were using CentOS 6 which is as you said end of life.

I may do your suggestion above or just start over. At this point starting over doesn't sound so bad as we are using NSClient and need to switch to NCPA
