Change Service Status to "Unknown" when host is down?

When I setup Nagios XI, I added the following to nagios.cfg to prevent service alerts when the host is down: host_down_disable_service_checks=1

Today I got to witness what happens when a host goes down with this value set; the service checks do indeed stop, however the status also freezes (the screen grab is about 45 mins after the host went down) - see attached.

My request: when service checks are disabled and a host is down, could the service status please be changed to "Unknown" or "Down", just not "OK" to prevent confusion and questions being asked?

My first thought was maybe I had services linked to another host that was up, but that was not the case , the services were not "OK" because the host was down.
Note, the D: Drive check must have alerted just prior to the host check finding the host down, then service checks got disabled.

I know this may seem to be cosmetic, since the end result is to prevent unwanted service alerts (and that worked here) but our PM has a daily status call with the client, and questions get asked when everything isn't "green".

Sorry, but works as designed.

Since your setting was to ignore (disable) all service checks if hosts were to go down.

In your case, your option is to manually force a check on those services which will then change their colors and states.

Manual force checks were ignored as well... Host down, services OK.

It doesn't happen that often, and we don't normally have servers down for unscheduled maintenance, so we can live with it.
