Hi @btayl,

You can assign the host group from either the host object or the hostgroup object, so in this case the membership has been assigned from the host object.

The best practice would be to maintain consistency across all objects as to which assignment route is chosen, for example via the hostgroup, as it will be easier to manage and view group membership.

Regards,
Benjamin

Hi @btayl,

Could send over a screenshot of what you are seeing and the system profile so I can take a look at the configurations? You won't be able to add those objects (depending on where they assigned) but they should appear as grey text with a link icon.

Your pictures shows the same thing you would think you would see what is assigned more then being grayed out.

Hi,

Could you send over a screenshot of what you are seeing and the system profile so I can take a closer look? I'm not exactly sure what you're seeing in the GUI.

Thanks,
Benjamin

I get the same thing with the grayed out host. The fact that you have a place for assigned host's kinda of confuses for a management prospective and the face you can click the relationship ball on the main hostgroup page and see them makes that kind of messed up.

They wrote it like that because on the backend (Nagios Core) they are stored in different places. (Adding a hostgroup to a host vs adding a host to a hostgroup). It still lists them and indicates that they are defined elsewhere (the icon description at the bottom) but that was intended functionality because they are actually defined in two separate places in the backend configs and XI honors that flexibility.
