Status for using NDO2 with 5.8.2

Post by steph007 »

Hi,

Yesterday I have update from 5.8.1 to 5.8.2 but this morning, users was complaining of extrem slownees!
I tought it was simply a small update so I have applyied it without looking at the change log. And after m y test, all was good, conforting me in the fact it was a small update.
But it's look like it was not a small one for my Nagios environment!
All was good when using nagiosadmin user but it was slow with any others users. Very very slow.

What you have to know before going further:
I'm still using NDO2 because of major issues with NDO3.See those thread in teh forum for more detail:
- Lost all what was in Scheduled Downtime after upgrade
- Does NDO3 is now ok?

Looking at the change log, I found this:
Removed deprecated code related to NDO 2 (get_db_backend_status, get_ndoutils_info_xml, API's system/statusdetail dbbackend) -SAW

Could this be the cause of my problem?
Why with a minor version you deprecated the code ?! For me, this should be done with a major version, for example, 5.9. At that point, we would have paid more attention to the changelog.

What I did without success:
I tought that NDO3 could be good for me now and could fixed my problem. So I have reactivated NDO3 and restart Nagios. But I found that I still have issues with NDO2.

What I did with success:
Restore my vmware snapshot to returned to Nagios 5.8.1

What's next?!
It's appears that I still cannot run at NDO3 and it's appears that I cannot go to 5.8.2. What do I do now!!!

Hi @steph007,

Let's get a ticket opened for this issue so we can set up a remote a take a closer look at the system. To open a support ticket go to:

https://support.nagios.com/tickets/

and reference this post. Also, since the slowness was related to user accounts, a few questions.

1. Are you using LDAP?

2. About how many users are logged into the server at time?

3. Have you made any performance modifications to the system? If so, which ones?

4. Do you have test server setup in your environment?

Lastly, please attach a fresh system profile to the ticket.

To send us your system profile.
Login to the Nagios XI GUI using a web browser.
Click the "Admin" > "System Profile" Menu
Click the "Download Profile" button

Thanks,
Benjamin
