Nagios XI upgrade

We have two physical servers where we are hosting Nagios XI
Our production server is 5.6.3
Our new server is 5.8.3

Since doing a restore ass noted in the BACKUP/RestorePDF:
"The version of the fresh install of Nagios XI that you are restoring to needs to match the version of Nagios XI that the backup was taken from"

Is it possible to instead import configuration files in this order?

That will work. The main drawback here is the backup/restore option will bring everything over from the production system. For example, database info, user accounts, history..etc. Another option is to install 5.6.3 on the new server, run the restore and then upgrade to the latest.

If you plan to migrate just the configs, I would recommend running a verification or apply configuration between each object type to make it easier to correct issues along the way.

How can I download the 5.6.3 version? Can I uninstall the current 5.8.3 and install 5.6.3 or do I have to format the server and start over?

You can download 5.6.3 from the previous versions page at:

Nagios XI - Previous Versions

Nagios does not have an uninstall script. I would recommend re-installing on a fresh system if possible. In the end, that will probably take less time.
