Hey all, I'm trying to get my Nagios server to monitor my ProCurve switches. I downloaded some Service Definitions for ProCurve switches off of the Nagios Exchange but I'm finding out that the OIDs I'm using are for resources different from their definitions (different models equals different OIDs). For example, I was using a MIB browser to try to find the snmp error codes (or exit codes) for CPU Temp and found out that the OID was for a fan sensor. I DID find the CPU Temp OID but how do I find out what the error codes are? Is there a way to use my MIB browser to discover the codes? Also, I'm pretty new to snmp so if there are any good tutorials please let me know.
Thanks,
Joe B
How do I find the snmp error codes?
Re: How do I find the snmp error codes?
Ok, now I'm not sure if I'm using the correct OIDs for any of the resources. Does anyone know how to find out the description of each OID? I'm trying to use snmpwalk but that hasn't been much help thus far. I downloaded what I thought would be an explanatory MIB from the HP web site but now I have 127 mib files to look through. Maybe we could hire someone to stand in my IDF Room and keep their hand on the switches...
Thanks,
Joe B
