I need to upgrade a client from 5.6 to 5.8. I don't see anywhere it says it will or won't, or whether interim upgrades are recommended /necessary. Has anyone done a direct upgrade from 5.6 -> 5.8?
Thanks

Re: upgrade from 5.6 to 5.8
I upgraded a 5.6.14 directly to 5.8.3 with no issues. I plan to do on my other host as well but have to prep a new server first as the old one is Linux 6
2 of XI5.6.14 Prod/DR/DEV - Nagios LogServer 2 Nodes
See my projects on the Exchange at BanditBBS - Also check out my Nagios stuff on my personal page at Bandit's Home and at github

Hi,
How are you doing?
It should be a smooth transition from 5.6.x to 5.8.x assuming that your system (OS) isn't heavily customized and is not currently experiencing any issue (e.g load or slowness).
Also, your system must be CentOS/Rhel 7.x or newer.
CentOS 6 has been EOL and can only handle up to XI 5.7.5 version.
Here's another ticket for reference:
https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... 16&t=61984
Here's another option you could try:
- Spin up a new system
- Install the same Nagios XI version as your old machine onto the new VM (machine).
- Create a backup of your old XI machine and restore that onto the new VM (machine).
- Upgrade new VM (machine) to latest XI version.
Best Regards,
Vinh
