High CPU Usage from SNMPTT process

Hello,

We are running Nagios XI 5.8.1 on a VM with 8 CPU and 12 GB RAM.

We are using it to monitor 667 hosts and 9390 services.

We are running into the issue of High CPU usage very frequently lately.

Looking at the top process-- SNMPTT seems to be always running at 100%--- what could be causing this? The snmptt.log indiciates no issues. However the spool location: /var/spool/snmptt has 25k files in it.
